How Long Will the Hazard Perception Test Take?

If you’re getting ready for the Hazard Perception Test (HPT), you might be wondering how long it will take and what to expect. This test is all about checking how well you can spot potential hazards while driving.

Test Duration: The HPT takes around 20 minutes to complete. It consists of 16 video clips, each lasting between 30 seconds to a minute. In each clip, you'll need to click when you spot a developing hazard, such as a pedestrian crossing the road or a car changing lanes.

Online Test: You can take the Hazard Perception Test online through VicRoads, which is super convenient. The first attempt is free, and you'll need to complete a two-step verification process to ensure you’re the one taking the test.
